HI,

I currently use quicktime and mplayer to view my movie files which are .mov, .mpg, .avi etc.

Although it seems that quicktime cannot play some of the avi files and I cannot find any way to play .rm (real media??) files. But I really don't want to download real player cause I heard it is hard to get off (is this true)

Is there anything I can do to quicktime so it can play everything?

Thanks

Dan

Hi, Dan!
Best software out there that will play several different types of files - 2 names
MPlayer, and VLC
I have used RealPlayer for at least a couple of years. I have not had problems with it. And the newest version 10 of Realplayer has at least some features of the Windows version, in the past has just been a release that could play files and that was all. This version also seems quite stable to me.
Don't expect to play all versions of .avi files on a Mac. Some require codecs that are only available with Windows. Between QuickTime, MPlayer, and VLC, most will work.
