I Have a 1.25 ghz g4 with 768 meg ram. I am getting a imac g5 1.8 ghz with 2 ghz ram tomorrow. In looking up possible trouble for the new imac, I ran into warnings about high cpu temperature so I downloaded some software to check the temp in my g4, depending on the programs I am running, the cpu temp goes up to 114F, now I want to be proactive, but I haven't found anyplace that tells me what the correct or safe temperature is. And what are the results of a computer running at too high a temperature? Please tell me if you can the safe temps for both the G4 tower and the imac g5.
Thank You,
Carol Jones

Your CPU is running about 45C. You could go up close to 100C before any damage would ocurr. I wouldn't worry about this, you really don't have a heat problem. Modern CPU's run hot.
