First, you need 256 MBs of RAM minimum for Tiger. Second, you will need at least 5-6 GBs of free space on the hard drive during installation.

Since you don't mention the install option you chose nor the state of your system prior to installation, it's pretty difficult to go much further at this point. However, normally you do not install Tiger in verbose mode, rather you boot directly from the Tiger DVD, then install via the normal installer program. There are several install options available, and they are discussed in the following article:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301270.

Do not upgrade or use Archive and Install unless you have first repaired the hard drive and permissions.

Hello Steven.

I will try to install with 256mb tomorrow but I think this not solve problem.

I install now the Tiger from HDD. (I copy Tiger DVD to partition on the another HDD and boot from it). All works fine (at first look).

But after install the DMG files can'nt be mapped.
The diskutil say about "Device not configured". From command line say about waiting for driver.

I think the problem with installation not from DVD.
I believe problem with whole Apple.

Unfortunately I neede the OSX 10.4 for work.

May be I can save myself by change my job?

I will try tomorrow with additional memory and back you by results if your want.

Great thanks for advise.

When you install Tiger you should boot the computer directly to the DVD, not via an image on another hard drive.

If you are using the Upgrade or Archive and Install option you must first repair your hard drive and permissions by booting from the Installer disk for the version of OS X you currently have installed (not the Tiger DVD.) Unless your hard drive has been verified as OK, do not attempt to install Tiger. Instead backup your hard drive, then erase it and install Tiger using Erase and Install.

Hello Steven.

I successfully install the Tiger on G4 after adding of memory.

I performs 4 test installation and found that Tiger installer do not check the required minimum of memory required for install. I believe this is the bug related to the strategy of allocation of memory for memory disks (which used for temporary store of installation files).

I think the simple test for compatibility MUST be added to the installer because if installer do not notify me about memory insufficient I will never (or at least the long time) will not check this issue.

Thanks for your previous replies.
