everytime my powerbook goes to sleep, i can't wake it up again...any button i press, i can see the cursor and the computer is on, but the screen is black. Is there any special way to wake it up?
Greetings,
I suggest you try re-installing the appropriate combo update for whichever version of OS X you are running (see
http://search.info.apple.com/?search...kword=&q=combo to view them). This worked for me on a couple of Titanium G4 PowerBooks experiencing similar issues. In both cases, it turned out the network adapter was unable to re-initialize.
If that does not work, please provide more information about your setup:
Version of OS X are you running
PowerBook details (G3/G4, memory, etc.)
Has the sleep problem occurred from the beginning or is it a recent phenomena? If recent had you changed anything or applied software updates?
It would also help to know if you are comfortable entering commands from the terminal (you may be able to identify the error by searching /var/log/system.log (upon rebooting after the problem occurs) using the terminal command:
sudo less /var/log/system.log | grep Sleep -A 40)
One other thought, the AirPort 4.2 update has caused a number of problems for people (in my case, upon waking my G4 digital audio PowerMac, the airport card would not "wake up", others have reported sleep related issues - either their system locks up going to sleep or waking up).
To fix my system, I booted from the OS X Tiger CD, performed an archive install and did not reapply the AirPort 4.2 update. That may also be a possibility for you if you are running Panther and have applied the AirPort 4.2 update.
