Description:
How do I use a LaserWirter II NT printer
privately while at the same time having access to the other Macs on a network.
In other words, I want to connect 1 LaserWriter directly to my computer while at the same time maintaining file sharing as well as printing to another Laserwriter II NT

as the LaserWriterII series printers are all network printers, you can only share the other printer also. You can give the printer you want to use privately a name like "my personal property - don't use it !" or something with the Apple Printer Utility. Another way of using your printer privately would be the setup of multiple AppleTalk zones, but this is hard to do and requires additional, expensive software.

In contrast, if you use Ethernet to connect to the other macs, you can hook up your NT to your computer on the printer port and install Apple's LaserWriterBridge (download at www.apple.com) and set it up to share your printer "private". No one else than you will then be able to use this printer.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
