DESCRIPTION:

I just downloaded the new quicktime 3.02 from the apple site for win95 PC. Here's my problem: when I click a downloaded mov clip, the sound works fine but the picture is blank (a solid color). No picture period. Can you help please? The apple site mentioned something about a codec but didnt say where I could get the codec or fix the possible codec conflict. Your advice on what to do or who I could contact would be most appreciated.

Greetings, Reggie:

Quicktime and Windows have been like oil and water for many moons. The various versions of QT out there don't like each other very much.

The company I work for has a QT movie on its web site. I downloaded the latest version, wanting to be sure I got it right, and it crashed every time I ran it. I finally loaded the version from the site itself and it ran fine. It's possible that the movie you're trying to run requires an earlier version.

I'd suggest you go to the source of the file and ask them what version of QT they recommend. OR, get Microsoft's Media Player, which can run QT movies. You can get it from this page at MS:
