Computer Type: Apple
Model: iMac
RAM: Not related
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
I inadvertently trashed Clarisworks and Apple CD Audio Player. One of you kind folks at No Wonder suggested I "run the Clarisworks installer and it will create a new copy," and "run the system installer and reinstall the CD AUdio Player."
I have 2 CD's one is an "installer" the other a "restorer". When I started up with the installer CD, i tried to run the Clarisworks installer, and got a mesage saying "Since items need to be added to the system file or folder, an extra 5435K of disk space is required to install this software. Please free up more disk space on the disk named "iMac Install" and try the installer again." I had clicked next to "Mac HD", not the iMAc installer, why does it want more room on the installer?
Also, the CD player did not have an install button/option. When I hit the appple cd icon in the install CD, it just showed picture of a tape deck, but did NOT install it for me.
The "Restore" CD doesn't even have an option to install just the 2 program s I need, you have to install. I mean "restore" everything or nothing.

Hello Gary and Welcome to No Wonder!
The Apple CD Player is just an application without anything else to it, so you can just drag the one on from your CD over to your Hard Drive icon. You'll get a message saying it can't be moved and needs to be copied, and that's just what you want to do.
The problem with ClarisWorks might be that you started up from the install CD. Try starting up from your Hard Drive as usual, then run the intaller making sure you tell it to install to the HD.
Let me know how it goes,
Kristina
