I've been trying to open a website, but I receive the message Script Timeout so the page never opens (well, sometimes it does, but most of the time it doesn't).

I've looked for information online, but the directions are apparently for Windows. I think I have to change the script timeout value to a higher number. I looked under Preferences in Safari, Automator on the the HD, keychains, Internet Preferences, etc. etc. but so far have not been able to find scripts for timeout values. One Google site said the response timeout for any OS X over 10.3.6 are automatically set to one year!

Help!

I have tried filling out the rest of your questions, but every time I get to the "System Profile" questions and choose the platform, I'm taken back to "Catagory" so I'll answer the rest of the questions here:

I have a Macintosh IBook G4 OS 10.4.7 and run Safari on ISP NetZero.
Model: PowerBook6,5
Memory: 256 MB
Bus Speed: 133 MHz

Hi there,

Could you send in an example link to one of these websites which times out for you?

Thanks

Here is the site. It's from azcentral.com for TV listings in Phoenix.

Thanks.

Received a message today 10/3/06 that I had not responded for 24 hrs. Please note that I responded yesterday to the request for an example to a link for a website that times out. Have not received a response from "Batfink".

By the way, under "Your Options:" "assistence" is spelled "assistAnce."

Hi

Sorry for the delay. Been trying to replicate your problem, particularly as you say sometimes it does open the page.
I wonder if the timeouts are in the ones you see in the web page source, therefore if your ISP connection is intermittently slow, the response doesn't handshake as expected in the timeframe.
Its a bit of a guess I'm afraid.
You could try using the Firefox web browser to see what happens there, to determine whether it is a Safari coding issue.
Have you also tried using the 'Reset Safari...' option under the Safari menu?
This will clean out cache files etc... and may do the trick.

Try these things one at a time and get back to me. Meanwhile, I'll keep checking the azcentral page myself.

Hola again,

Just got timed out again when trying to open the TV listing page. Have tried Firefox and Explorer - no difference. Don't want to reset Safari since I don't want to lose some info.

Here is the message I get:

"Script timed out. The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property server Script Timeout or changing the value in the ISS Administrator."

What and where is the Property Server and/or the ISS Administrator? I've tried to find it on my computer along with trying to get into scripts for changing internet values with no luck. Please refer to my first message.

Hola,

I think that the timeout message could possibly be generated by the webpage rather than the web browser. Therefore, I would contact azcentral by filling out this form:
http://www.azcentral.com/help/articles/comment-form.php
and tell them what's happening. I can't find references that make sense of 'the ISS Administrator'.
I found something about the Property Server here:
http://www.msobczak.com/prog/yami/im...s/pserver.html
But that looks like changes which need making server side.

See where you get with azcentral first.

By the way, I'm in Europe, hence time delays in replying to you.

Thanks
