Problem: Hardware
Computer Type: Apple
Model: Power Book G3/233/13.3tft
RAM: 64meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
I own a new (2 months) powerbook G3 233/13.3 tft. Often when my computer is running, the screen starts to wash out and has faint white shadows running in vertical lines across my screen (the pixels literally seem to be bleaching out - you can still see they have color, but it flickers and is bleached). It seems to be worse when the processor is running more applications, so it makes me think it might be some kind of power problem. I'm living in Sweden for a year, but this began back in the States before I left. Should I be concerned, or is this just an annoying little problem that I will get used to. I shouldn't have to, but if there is no fix I don't want to hassle with customer service over here in Europe.

Thanks - Eric

Eric,

Thanks for using No Wonder for your technical support needs. This is not a documented problem with Apple, and I am willing to bet that the problem is with the video card. My advice is to call Apple, but I will give you a tip. Call the US Assistance Center. Why? Because that is where you bought the computer, the sooner you call in and they diagnose the problem the easier it will be to fix or replace later on. Just to give you a few tips on how Apple tech support works, you get 90 days to call in about the problem, and for it to be fixed. If you are out of the contry call anyway and yes you will have to talk to both the US and Eroupean groups (if service needs to be sent). But the advantage to this is, if the problem is not resolved and is still happening when you get back to the states, you will have a better chance at getting the problem fixed if you call ASAP. When you talk to a rep make sure you get the ticket number and keep everything, every call on that ticket. (I used to work for them) The best of Luck to you.

Thank you for using No Wonder!
