I cannot install Shockwave. I've tried to install from the

was included with the Netscape Navigator 4. Whenever I go to
a Shockwave site, it will not run. I don't know if my computer hasn't installed it or if it is installed and just
refuses to run. Help!

Hello Maureen
You can tell if Shockwave is installed by going into the Netscape folder and then Plug-ins. That is where it should be, if it's installed. Several years ago, when I had Shockwave running, it was not compatible with Ram Doubler. Since you didn't list yourself as using RD, that's not an issue, but at that time Shockwave required a large amount of memory allocated to Netscape. It was something like 20 mbs, which is an issue for you since you have 32 mb od RAM in your Performa. I imagine the Operating System uses more than 12 mb, so allowing Netscape 20 mb would crash the computer. If you want to try, go to the Apple Menu and About This Computer. See how much total memory is being used. If that amount plus 20 mb is over 30 mb, consider leaving Shockwave alone or buying more RAM or getting Ram Doubler. If it's under 30 mb, click once on the Netscape application, and hit cmd-i. A window opens. In the lower box, in Preferred size, enter 20480, and see if Shockwave site will work.
