I have an Imac G4 with system 9.2 and system 10. The computer and the internet have slowed down since I put two graphic programs in. Would taking out system 9.2 help? If so, how would I go about doing this?
Thank you.

Hi Sherri,

I have read various opinions about the pros and cons of removing 9.2 from your computer. As far as I am aware having OS 9 on your machine will not slow it down, however if you are not often using it I would suggest that you do not have it open all the time. To alter preferences so that it does not start unless you need it to follow these instructions:

1. Click on the Apple in the top left hand corner of your desktop while running OS X.

2. Click on the option 'System Preferences'

3. When the System Preferences panel has opened click on the icon for OS 9 which is entitled 'classic'.

4. Remove the ticks from the top two boxes: 'Start Classic when you login' and 'Hide Classic while starting'

This will stop Classic (OS 9.2) from opening when you start your computer.

I would also recommend putting a tick in the 'Warn before starting Classic' box so that you will know if or when it is being brought into action.

I hope this helps.

Regards

Ian
