we are new at apple only 1 month. we have a g4 laptop 10.4.2, it opens slowly with a blue screen. I dont have a clue, except for removing sme startup items from accounts.

Yes, seeing what is starting up is helpful. Also, there are some maintenance routines you can do as well. Have you repaired permissions lately? Also there are programs, free utilities apps like ONYX and Mac Janitor that will run some basic unix routines to maintain your Mac.

Thank you, after having the dreaded PC for 13 years I am familar with the other OS, but this is tough. I ended up after talking to Apple, they had me after hours, the manual with the laptop is useless. I tried to repair the permissions clean boot, etc. Finallyu reinstalled the software after making an archive, downloaded all updates. Everything is working well but ..I have to invest inm a really good manual.

Glad you got it straighten out. O'Reilly publishes great manuals for OSX beginners. You will come to love you Laptop OSX is great.

The problem with the slow opening came back, so apple-care had me do a complete reinstall, ...after going to the apple store...i now have a new computer..great warranty and all tech people need "high five"

Yes. Apple care and there support is great. Glad it all worked out in the end for you. :-)
