Hi Leigh...Welcome to No Wonder.

This type of problem is one of the hardest to troubleshoot...when something strange happens sometimes, but not always.

The first thing to check is the file system. Run Scandisk and Defrag to see if that helps. (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools)

Have a look at Device Manager (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System) to see if there are any conflicts with hardware devices. If there are, then a yellow exclaimation mark (!) will appear next to the device.

Does this problem happen when running only a certain application or any application at all?

If you do find a conflict in Device Manager or running Scandisk and Defrag doesn't fix the problem, please let me know and we'll work on other options.

Hope this helps,
Pete
