Description:
Since installing Stuffit upgrade to 4.5 I,ve had nothing but problems,most of the time I revert to generic simple text icons.Have rebuilt many,many times still get the same problem.I have OS 8.1 and disc formatted to hfs+Tech Tools which worked OK with this format when using Stuffit 4.0 after taking spacesaver out of control panels will no longer work I have also taken Stuffit out of my system and reinstalled with all their patches.Ran Disc First Aid using another start up disc ,get the reply Invalid PEOF,151953,451 or 158350,880.My Free ppp set up will not work Due to System Error.contextual memory will not work.I realize that my system needs to be reinstalled.I have 8.1 disc and 8.1 update on Machome disc ,which disc should I use to reinstall system and will I have to reformatt to hfs+ again.I have the disc to do this.Don,t want to Initialize and lose all my other programs and bookmarks again.Use Netscape primerily.Any help would be appreciated Ray Hood

Hi Ray, welcome to Nowonder, I'm robertw.
Sorry, but you have to initialize the disk and reinstall the system and your software, you can't just reinstall the system. That won't solve the problem.
Any time you get a PEOF error and Disk First Aid can't fix it, you have to reformat.
I wouldn't use the MacHome CD. There have been numerous problems reported with it.
