PROBLEM: Software
COMPUTER TYPE: clone
MODEL: AMD K6 233
RAM: 64meg
OS VERSION: Windows 98
SERVICE PACK: 4.10.1900 RCHAM4
DESCRIPTION:
I have got a 10 Mbit internet connection. Windows networking works flawlessly (so no network card problem) but rather often tcp/ip seems to fail. With internet explorer 4 windows is "contacting server..." but doesn't connect. Remedies sometimes are: a) going to Control Panel connection wizard and connecting again, b) checking my mail (?) c) waiting a minute or two. DNS server (130.161.188.140) doesn't cause problems on other machines. REinstalling windows doesn't work, what the hell should I try, or what do you think is the problem?,
Thanks a lot,
Pieter Heij
Dear Peter,
Go to the control panel and network. Click to properties on the tcp/ip, copy all of the information down. Then remove the tci/ip, reboot the system and go back to network and then add tcp/ip in protocol, microsoft, tcp/ip. And then go to the properties and add all of the information you copied down.
If you have any more questions please e-mail me.
