hi - first off, i really appreciate your help, so thanks.
my 700 mhz g3 processor 14" ibook does not seem to be liking the tiger...
i hear... something (the processor?)... running really loudly nearly every day. while this is happening i can't do anything.
also - the last two days my computer has frozen twice. the apps i have open when this happens are: firefox, ichat and entourage. i'm pretty sure i'm actually in firefox when it happens.
it's not a non-responsive thing - everything just freezes. i can move the cursor around but it doesn't do anything. i do the 'fn/control + power' restart and things seem fine.
but i'm concerned that this keeps happening and wonder what could be going on.
thanks again,
j.

Welcome on macosx.com
Could you try to repair permissions
(must be admin)
Launch Applications/Utilities/DiskUtility
On the left pane, select the drive
On the right, select the First Aid (or SOS) tab
Then click on repair permissions and let run; don not worry about messages like " new permissions...."
Quit DiskUtility
Shutdown and reboot
Could you also downloadOnyx
http://macapple.free.fr/titanium/english.html
This a good freeware for maintenance on the Mac; run the maintenance scripts and delete the caches

Philippe
