Installer icons not displayed and installer runs applescript not the installer

ok, to be specific,

I was trying to install AfterEffects 6.5 on my tiger partition on g4,

The installer icon is blank, Get Info suggests that it is indeed an application, by installerVISE, however now this is a bit odd, there is also an 'open with' tab in get info, this would NOT normally be present for an App. seems to be set to Applescript.

Double clicking opens an applescript window with some sort of config.

I have tried to open with Utilitie/installer.aqpp but this does not work.

This same installer works fine on my 10.3.9 partion and also on my TIGER laptop.

bit lost really . . .

One possibility is you have a bad copy of the installer on this computer. The other is that the association has been lost. For the latter select the file, press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the pane for the Default App, select Installer from the drop down menu.
