TICKET ARCHIVE -> Trash Is Not Working

Hello

I am using a G4 iBook with Tiger. When ever I move something into Trash, it warns me that the file will be deleted immediately and do I want to continue. The Trash never fills up (no files in it). It looks like the deleted items are gone right away without stopping in Trash.

Thanks very much for taking to time to answer my questions.

Craig,

click on your Desktop and open Finder Preferences. Go to advanced and see if "Show warning before emptying the Trash" is checked.

Yes, it was checked. I unchecked it and the same problem occurs. It is not about emptying the trash. I can't put anything into the Trash.

Thanks

What does that mean. Do the items dragged to Trash "bounce back" to where they came from? Or do you get a "The item could not be moved" warning?

I am unable to move anything into Trash. When I try to move a file into Trash I get a window saying that the file will be deleted immediately and do I want to continue. If I say yes then the file is gone but it is not in Trash. Either the files are by-passing Trash or Trash is emptying immediately upon receiving a file.

Hope this helps.

Craig,

I'm reopening the question as I can't help you on this one. I did find a troubleshooting report on a software called "Force Delete" - have you ever used this?

It seems to have a bug that makes Trash act similar to your description.

Nope, never used that.

I fixed it. About a month ago I was messing around with the users and I guess I lost permission to access the Trash. This link proved the answer:

Thanks for everything.
