Knowledge Level: Expert but stumped
Problem: Software
Computer Type: APPLE FINDER
Model: MAC 11CI
RAM: 24meg
RAM Enhancer: Ram Doubler 2.x
OS Version: System 7.5.5

Description:
When trying to copy files thru the finder, from one drive to the
other,I get an error: "This file cannot be read because a disk error occured. Do you want to continue copying." I have reset the desktop,
loaded a fresh copy of the system folder onto a jaz drive, ran
conflict catcher, and a few other tricks, but could not get it to work.
I can open the file from the original program and save it to the drive
I want it on, and it works fine.

I have a 570 mb hard drive, partitioned to two volumes, and a Jaz drive.
I was trying to transfer files to the jaz drive and had the problem and
back and forth between each volume, but still had the same problem.
Some file folders copied, but not the files. Same error all the time.
Any assistance will be appreciated.

THANK YOU,

RICK SWAD

Sounds like directory problems. have you run Norton disk doctor or any drive utility? Try updating the driver for the drives. Also might want to boot with Apple extensions only to see if it is software related. I would tend to think it is the driver though. Norton may be able to fix any file/directory strucure problem that might be causing your errors but if it's a corrupt driver you'll have to either update the driver, reinstall it or if nothing else works...... reinitialize.

Good luck.
