In loading Office, I get through the process, but when I try and open one of the applications it says

"The application XXXXX has unexpectedly quit. The system and other applications have not been affected."

I've tried to reload it a few times to no avail.

Have you deleted the various settings files for Office?
What version of Office are you trying to use?

Best guess here is that your Office preferences have become corrupted. You could try creating a new user for this purpose. Log out and then log back in as the new user, and try your Office software.

I deleted all traces of Office including the preferences but no go. I just ordered Tiger, so I'm hoping that will solve the problem. The reason I say this is because when I boot up, system 9 does not start up and I get an error message stating that which leads me to believe some core system function is not loaded.
