Hi
I have an Imac which i recently upgrded to 9.2.2. following instructions given at
http://www.macosx.com/content/faq.ph...G3-to-Osx.html
Since then it has been behaving strangely. If I boot it up, the dont use it before it goes in to sleep mode, it then wont wake up properly. If I use the machine before it goes to sleep it seems to be OK.
This morning on bootup I go the dreaded flashing ?
Any ideas?

Murray,
Upgrading to 9.2.2 is only if you are installing and using OS X. The update actually optimizes the OS 9 System folder to use as Classic in OS X. Classic is like an emulator that allows you to run OS 9 programs while still in OS X eliminating the need to restart the computer in OS 9.
Did you install OS X? Do you plan on installing OS X? If not, the best is to stay with OS 9.2.1.
First, start up the computer and immediately hold down the shift key. Continue holding down the shift key until you see the message All extensions off. Does the computer start up? If yes, then it is an extension conflict. Did you install any thing after the update was installed? I will be able to tell you what extension to disable to correct that.
If it does not start up, use the OS 9 CD to start up the computer (insert CD, restart computer, immediately hold down the C key).
Once the computer has started, click twice on the CD icon then open the Utility folder. Start up Disk First Aid and let it scan the drive and correct any problems it may find.
Now quit Disk utility, go to the Apple Menu at the far top left of the screen and select Control Panels> Startup Disk. Select your hard drive, then restart the computer.
Does the computer start up correctly?
Let me know how you do so I can continue to help you.

Thanks for your reply Cheryl. I upgraded to 9.2.2 because I wanted to run Virtual PC 6.1 on this machine, and 9.2.2 was one of the requirements for that.
When I got the flashing ? the other day I hit the shift key and it then booted up OK. It is booting up OK now.
I'll let you know if I get the sleep problem again.
Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated!
