KNOWLEDGE LEVEL: Expert but stumped

PROBLEM: Combination
COMPUTER TYPE: Diamond Multimedia
MODEL: SupraExpress 56e PC
RAM: 12meg
OS VERSION: Windows 95
SERVICE PACK: None

DESCRIPTION:

When logging on to my Internet provider, Earthlink, using DialUp Networking, it goes through the whole process of logging on to the network. Then, after the verifying username and password step, a dialog box pops up. It asks me to input my user name and password, and gives me a "tip" that if I don't enter this information, it won't show up again. I have never entered any of this information, as I am not on a network. When I click cancel, it goes away and I am able to connect successfully. However, this is becoming repetitive and annoying, so if you know of any way to get rid of this dialog box, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi Joy, thanks for using NoWonder!

I think your problem is that Windows thinks you're logging onto a Windows based network (like LAN's and such).

First, you can try just clicking OK instead of cancel. Sometimes this will kill it for good.

Secondly, check your Dial-Up Networking properties. Under the server types tag, see if "Log on to network" is checked. If it is, ask your ISP (internet service provider) if it's necessary. For most cases, it isn't.

Finally, if none of that works, goto the Network settings under Control Panel. Reply to this message with a list of Network Components you have installed. I'll see what I can do from there.

Hope this helps!
