Description:
I have just purchased a web page and would like to create my page, but I don't know what I need to do that. I have purchased the book Photoshop Web Magic because I have Photoshop 5.0 and I also own Quark. Are these enough. I tried to follow the direction sent to me by my web page host, but I was not able to get into the page to make changes. I have been able to view the source and see the code.

Hi Janet,
There are a lot of things involved in designing web sites...too many to tell in an email. You said you "purchased a web page"...I'm assuming what you mean is that your provider has set up space for your web pages. What you need to do now is get an HTML editor, or better yet, just learn HTML...it's pretty easy. Whenever you go to a web page...any web page, you can select View Document Source from your browser menu...this will show you the HTML code. Look through it a little comparing it to how the page looks, it won't take you long to figure out what's what. If this doesn't interest you, just get any HTML editor...Visual Page from Symantec is good, Miscrosoft's Front Page, Claris Home Page....on and on. Photoshop is the best tool in the world for making web graphics. Note that there are only 2 file types for graphics on the web: jpg (or jpeg)...use this for photos and .gif...use this for anything that is not a photo. The best thing you can do is go get yourself a book on web design and read about it on a site like c-net. Like I said, it cannot just be explained in an email.
If you are having problems connecting to the place your ISP has set up for you, you'll need to consult with them.
