KNOWLEDGE LEVEL: Intermediate

PROBLEM: Software
COMPUTER TYPE: Packard Bell
MODEL: Pentium MMX 233 MHz
RAM: 64meg
OS VERSION: Windows 95
SERVICE PACK: 4.00.950 B

DESCRIPTION:

Which version of Dial-Up Networking is included
on a new PC that shipped with Windows 95 OSR2
(4.00.950 B)?

I just reformatted my hard-drive, and so reset
everything to "out-of-the-box" settings, so I
am currently using whatever version of DUN this
version of Windows includes.

I want to upgrade my DUN but I don't want to do
it until I know which version I currently have.

Thanks for whatever help you can provide!

Doug,

Thank you for submitting your question to No Wonder! I was unable to find a way to determine what version of Dial-Up Networking comes with Windows 95 OSR2, but I believe it is 1.2. The latest version of Dial-Up Networking (1.3) is available from Microsoft:

http://support.microsoft.com/support.../4/94.asp?FR=0

I also recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows 95 OSR2. I then installed the Dial-Up Networking 1.3 upgrade and noticed a few improvements (for one, the indicator in the system tray is larger and easier to read!).

I hope this answers your question. If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for using No Wonder, and have a GREAT day!
