KNOWLEDGE LEVEL: Intermediate

PROBLEM: Software
COMPUTER TYPE: Tyan
MODEL: Pentium 200
RAM: 65+
OS VERSION: Windows 98
SERVICE PACK: 4.10.98

DESCRIPTION:

I have four programs in my Quick Launch Toolbar. Occasionally, the icons change by themselves (and are the wrong icons). The program pointers are still correct and programs are still properly launched. It's only the icons which are corrupted. Reboot restores.

This SEEMS to occur whenever I make any change to programs in the Start Menu. But it isn't 100% reproducible.

Any ideas?

Peter,

This seems to be a bug (also occurs with Windows '95 users that have IE 4) as we get many questions regarding this situation. I also have the problem every now and then and so do my friends. If this occurs (which I am sure it will again), right click on the little bar right by the start button (your cursor will turn into two double lines) and select "refresh" on the menu that pops up. This should restore the icons to their original state without having to reboot.

Sincerely,
James
