Knowledge Level: I'm New!

Problem: Combination
Computer Type:
Model: Powerbook 1400cs/133
RAM: 16meg
RAM Enhancer: Virtual Memory
OS Version: Not related

Description:
My Powerbook runs very slow when using AOL. This happened suddenly. I haven't installed any new applications or altered the computer in any way. One day it was running as usual..the next day it was taking forever to dowload web pages. I contacted AOL and they walked me through several steps to rectify the problem but to no avail. I have increased memory, trashed browser cache, 3.0 preferences, internet settings, and I have done a clean istall. After the clean install it worked for about 2 minutes. I was able to download AOL's homepage quickly, but then it began running slow again. Right now I'm running AOL on my Mac Performa 5200, from the same location, with no trouble. I'd sincerely appreciate any advice you could suggest since I seem to have hit a brick wall with this problem. Thank you very much.

Unfortunately, getting on the WEB thru AOL is not a practical solution in most cases...especially when speed is the issue. I recommend that you switch to an ISP and connect to AOL thru the ISP...you'll see that using Netscape, etc. will run much faster.

AOL employees are not going to tell you that their browser is going to run slow...but the fact is, it will!
