Hi Paul,

My name is Richard, I will be your support technician and assisting you with your question.

I need some preliminary information regarding your issue with Yahoo Chat, so I can help you solve your problem better. I need the following information:

- Are you trying to enter through the website ? OR are you using a 3rd party application ?. If it's a 3rd party program what is it called.

Regards

Hi Paul,

I was never too successful connecting through the web. You might want to consider two 3rd party apps:

Charla: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10779

Chit Chat X: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21130

I've you've ever used the Windows version. The Mac version doesn't have chat built-in. So these two apps give you Yahoo chat as a stand-alone app similar to the Windows version. I started out using Charla, but I found for whatever reason it would crash. I switched over to Chit Chat X and it's been excellent.

I'd recommend downloading Chit Chat X and giving it a try. Even though it's 'beta' I've never had any issues or stability problems with it.

Please let me know how you get on.

Hi Paul,

I'm just writing to enquire if my suggestions for a 3rd party yahoo chat application helped to resolve things. If this issue is resolved please let me know & I can close the case. If not please let me know and we can try other solutions.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting back to me. I forgot to mention that with Tiger you'll need to download StuffIt Expander which you can download here:

http://www.stuffit.com/cgi-bin/stuff...standardmacexp

If you're a long time PC user like me, StuffIt is basically the equivalant to WinZip on Windows, sit files is the Mac native compression format. Older OS X versions came with stuffit expander pre-installed. But for Tiger they decided to cut out 3rd party apps.

Once you download and install StuffIt then you'll be able to decompress the yahoo file and install it as well.

Please keep me posted, if you need additional help please let me know.
