Problem: Hardware
Computer Type: Apple
Model: PowerMac 8200/120
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: System 7.5.5
Description:
The system: 8200/120 with 96MB and (mainly) 7.5.5.
The Sagem Geoport (modem port) and HP 6MP (printer port) have worked properly until 64MB was added to the system - making all slots full (2x16, 1x32, 1x64). The HP needs AppleTalk for postscript printing.
Now there is this message at start up:
" ISDN Geoport Setup:
Not Running - Serial ports in use by LocalTalk"
and the Geoport extension appears with OFF over it.
However, when the printer cable is disconnected, start up is OK, connecting that cable thereafter leaves everything fine.
Swapping the ports doesn't have any impact at all.
What is happening and how can I overcome this hiccup? Thank you for your suggestions.

Sometimes AppleTalk gets confused. First as you go into the chooser, hold down the command(apple) and option keys. This will clear the chooser's cache and you will start fresh. Then turn on Appletalk, select the printer and the port. The printer port is the default for AppleTalk. Then
Follow the steps below to make AppleTalk active under Open Transport:
1.Open the AppleTalk control panel.
2.Select User Mode under the Edit menu (or Command-U).
3.Select Advanced user mode and click OK.
4.Click on the Options button.
5.Select active and click OK.
6.Close the AppleTalk control panel.
7.Save the changes.
Then restart your computer. Then hold down the command(apple) and option keys when you see the happy mac. This will do a desktop rebuild. You should be running fine after that. Keep me posted.
