Hi! On the left side of my finder window I have multiple image icons that refer to some images I had on my desktop a while back. I don't have the CD that the images were stored on, and now - when trying to delete the icons - I get a message saying "The Volume for [imagenumber] cannot be found. Insert the volume for [imagenumber] and wait for it to appear on the desktop, then try again". What can I do to get rid of these icons? I suspect there should be a fairly easy solution? Thanks!

If all you want to do is remove the item from the Finder's sidebar, then select the item and drag it out of the sidebar.

if it was only that easy.... as soon as I try to select those items, I get the "Volume cannot be found" window. I can't move them at all. (see attached image). Thankful for any ideas!

I'm sorry to say no image was attached. Can you send me the URL?

Hi skapp. Appreciate the help. I have put the image on my server. Here's the link. Thanks!

In the top section of the sidebar is there an entry for the device the dialog is asking for? If so, is there an eject icon associated with the item? If there is, then try ejecting it.
Otherwise, I would trash the com.apple.sidebarlists.plist file (in /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.)
