Guys- I'm new to this (PC convert)

Hopefully you can help me out-- I'm looking for an app something like window washer (mac washer) that will securely clean logs/cache etc but will function with stability and not screw up my system- as some reviews have suggested about mac washer...

Also- cocktail/onyx/macsweeper-- what do these do and will I potentially do more harm than good as a newbee??

I can only speak for OnyX. If you read the straightforward documentation (Help::OnyX Help) and work with the default settings, the cache cleaning will be a safe and unsurprising routine for you. However, whether this app does the trick for you depends on what you mean by "securely clean" -- as far as I know, OnyX just unlinks cache files; it doesn't do a secure delete with multiple overwrites of random data. It doesn't zero any of the bits.
