well, this is just an ugly possible work-around, but what if you used your isight to record, and then Rogue Amoeba's Audio Hijack Pro to record and save down the audio in the format/sampling rate you desire? Then import the output/save from AHP into Garage Band. like I said, not elegant, but it may be worth a try...
