Automator

I know this is old, but I cannot resist... Why provide 13+ scripts when one can do the job? I know each one of the ones you have listed have different purposes, but I don't think he was asking for built in scripts for legacy code or web development. Built-in with 13+ scripts, and people say Windows is bloated. Ha! Give me a break...

Yes, I have tried using the automator to record an action, but apparently it insists on showing the mouse playing it all back... ...

So can you clarify -- when the laptop wakes from sleep and reconnects, does the little applescript app re-run and therefore change the colours back, or does the system do this when it reconnects *without* the applescript getting re-run? By the way, there's no need to duplicate the thread.
