I'd say MacPilot is worth the $20. It can do much more than changing the standby screen. Just use the 15 day trial and you will see. I never could take phpBB forums seriously...

You seem very convinced of that... :) MacPilot is a GUI to allow you to make changes to the various system settings. Just a matter of finding our which one to change, and how. MacPilot (and some other system config utilties) just makes the task simpler. If you can discover which .plist, etc. to modify, then that would be free, AFAIK. All I know is MacPilot that will do that for you but it costs money. ...

I think MacPilot does let you change that Login picture & text.
