For getting analog video into your Mac, ElGato's stuff seems to be very popular, and the EyeTV 250 would probably suit your needs (and work as a TV tuner as well). As for getting video from a DVD onto your Mac, I use MacTheRipper and find it works 99% of the time. You can then use HandBrake to convert the DVD video to other formats.

Provided you have the hard drive space and the newest super drives from Apple, you use MacTheRipper to rip and remove CSS Encryption, Toast Titanium to make copies, and DVD2OneX for compression if needed. ...

Discs that don't have protection can be copied straight using Toast's Copy feature. If you're trying to squish a dual-layer DVD onto a single-layer disc, you'd be best first dragging the VIDEO_TS folder to your computer and using DVD2OneX to shrink it. Then copy then new VIDEO_TS folder into a DVD-ROM (UDF) document in Toast, and hit burn (making sure to have the same name as...

I just posted somewhere else that I make DVD copies using mactheripper (free) to decrypt, then DVD remaster ($50) to shrink to normal disc size. I have 2 cheap DVD players - one plays the discs fine, one doesn't. ???.

Hi all, I am currently developing an application to manage movie-collections, including features to automatically encode contents into different formats etc. On of the next features I want to implement is DVD Import. Since I don't have to reinvent the wheel, I am searching a good, stable, proven command line app which removes the CSS protection and region code of a DVD,...

GraphicConvertor - a little ugly in its GUI, but completely indispensible for working with images. Roxio Toast - for CD/DVD writing tasks Snapz Pro X For DVDs and movies - MacTheRipper, Handbrake, DVD2OneX and Roxio Popcorn Aside from that and the "killer apps" like Photoshop and Office, I tend to find the Mac already has everything I need and don't find as much...

Hi, I need to convert a DVD so I can import it into a program (after Effects 6.5) and output for inclusion in Flash. I used Mactheripper, but I can't encode this to a format I need, such as mpeg4, .mov, etc... Any advice? Info: This dvd was made by folks at my job, but I do not have access to the source footage. It's a legit deal, I'm not trying to pirate anything....
