Heres my list of applications: 1) VirtualBox - Something like Parallels (i.e. allows you to run other OSes via virtualization), but its free so give it a go. 2) TexShop - I work with LaTeX a lot and this has been tremendously helpful. 3) BibDesk - Bibliography manager for use with LaTeX. 4) LatexIt - Typeset math equations.

I'm sure using a combination of XP and OS X apps is probably ideal, but as far as PS Elements goes, Macworld gave it 4.5 mice out of 5. They said it was excellent. So I would like to use the Graffle (visio). Did this software come on my powerbook g4 OS x when I purchased the computer? I feel like it did. I think I may have deleted the applications but want to reinstall. I can see the .pkg files on my computer (one is "OmniGraffle 3.2 v74.5.pkg" and the other is "CPU_OmniGraffle.pkg"). Either way, when I try to install, I get the option...

Yes, getting the tiger discs, will do the trick. The only thing you will not get is the applications that may have come with your Powerbook, like iLife, Omnigraffle, etc.

I use OmniGraffle for lots of this stuff and then export to PDF. That may well fit your needs. ...
