I'm missing the option "Yes, if it's content is important" but so I've choosen "Yes" Depends here on the content. Simple mails with normal chatting or simple questions i.e. go unencrypted. More important things leave here using my SSL enabled Mailserver in the US so the content is encrypted on its way from Germany to the mailserver. But of cause not on the way from there....

Highlight the folder, do a command+I (or go File->Get Info). Then go to Ownership & Permissions-Details and make it readable only for your account. Now if you want to make the folder password protected (so if anyone is using your account) then you need a to use Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility and create a new Disk Image but password encrypt. There are third party programs...

Tks. I corrected the wrong parts and added the "r" rating. I suppressed the header and footer on purpose (I don't like long signatures, and everybody who can understand geek code can see it, other will not understand anyhow), as I wrote most in lower case 'cause I find uppercase too aggressive.

PGP? OK so its obvious that you are trying to keep something secret, but you can make a heavily encrypted file with it and the basic version is free.

I would also point out that the independance of anti-virus creators from the OS maker adds to the security of the anti-virus app. How many Microsoft anti-virus apps do you know of? :p It's the same idea as releasing Zimmerman's PGP as open source: everyone could look it over and see if there were any back doors or security holes... Not that I'm suggesting that Apple...

So, if you want privacy you have to crypth every mail. Prefered is PGP. But due to most people doesn't use PGP this is still not a very good option. ...

The "horsepower" of your Mac is not the issue unless you are out of disk space or RAM with a file that big. More likely it is PGP itself. Your best bet would be to check with PGP to see if there are known issues. Also be sure you have the latest version of PGP which is 8.0. ...
