Perhaps you can rename "Quicktime Player X" to "Quicktime Player X Backup," then copy the Quicktime 7 binary from the Applications/Utilities folder into the /Applications folder and name it "Quicktime Player X." Just a thought. I don't think you can modify the behavior of "Quicktime Player Launcher."

When you "Share" a movie to iTunes, or use the "Export Movie..." function under the "Share" menu, can you see the video in the resulting file (either in iTunes or Quicktime)?

Try creating a generic user account for testing. See if it does it in a different user. If it plays fine in a new user then perhaps try deleting quicktime preferences in your users/user/library/preferences folder.

Hello everyone, I just got my new MacBook Pro and am already having annoying issues. For some reason, Safari fails to show video in web pages. For instance, videos from apple.com (any of them, including trailers). I get the controls and audio - but instead of video, just a blank screen. I'm using Snow Leopard. Lately I've been having problems converting with QT Pro. I'm either getting an error message saying that that file name already exists (even when the folder has no video files in it or is empty) or I'm getting a converted file, but the video is just a white screen. Suggestions?
