Spotlight is the current name for Apple's search utility in Mac OS X. (Sherlock was from OS 8.x to 10.3, I guess.) I find "EasyFind" the best tool for such searches. Watson I used to find Sherlock very useful years ago, on pre-OS X systems! :) (Oh, fryke, the link did not work, and I think it was because the closing parenthesis was not included in the hyperlink.)

Just recently the Preview Application disappeared from my mac mini running 10.4.11. I tried searching with Spotlight and Sherlock with no results. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it back or reinstalling it? ...

@Giaguara Thanks for your suggestions. I tried them all (but a new install) to no avail. So I searched in the system and perhaps the BSD.pkg is some files missing (it will never ever find a server and some proggies are shuting down immediately after start up). Eg. Firefox 1.0 starts up (with no connection of course) but Firefox 2.0, Safari. Sherlock, etc shut down...

Using Sherlock 2, running under Classic, I was able to find this file, but the only thing I could do with it in Sherlock 2 was move it to the Trash. So now, it's sitting in the Trash of the Classic environment, but OSX doesn't see it, the Trash in OSX is empty. ...
