On the Mac side, I used Snapz Pro for any video I needed - otherwise VNC from a PC and then webex. Too bad they don't do webex recorder for OS X, and there is (the last time I checked when I needed one) probably no .wrf to iPod compatible video converter.

The best screen capture program (by far, IMHO) is Snapz Pro for X - totally worth buying for the small fee. I am a designer and use it to no end... allows you to select an area of the screen, file type to save as, file name, etc.. etc.. even quicktime files of your computer actions.

One good example of the icon not showing up in the dock is Snapz Pro X, the awesome screen-capturing utility from Ambrosia Software (www.ambrosiasw.com). I keep the icon in the dock anyway (it doesn't register as open though), because I can click the icon and have it bring up the screenshot window, as well as using Command-Shift 3.
