HD crashed, have image as .dmg, how2load

I am assuming your Int-HD is FUBAR'd. Hrrrmmmm . . . I am not aware of how you can open a .dmg of that size on a smaller HD. Since you need a new HD for your PB G4, you might as well get one. Unless you want to upgrade your computer . . . even then you are going to get a fresh new Int-HD that is really big. Whichever you chose you can try a couple of things. I...

Getting original software back, after leopard install

Hi, I purchased, and installed os X 10.5.4 for someone, on their ibook G4. They specifically wanted the HDD wiped, and started from scratch. (I do however have a backup of the old system using superduper). Originally the laptop ran Panther, and it came with MS Office 2004, and Photoshop Elements. The only CDs they had were 2 grey system restore CDs, so I ran those, and...

Blue screen after diskwarrior

This tends to happen when DiskWarrior finds a bad sector (it can not fix) in the startup sequence. So if i were you I would quickly invest in a Firewire external drive and clone your operating system (with either the free Carbon Copy Cloner or the shareware SuperDuper) and schedule a full backup and a Daily Incremental backup after (for daily changes). I say this because...

System tools

You can do this with the retail Mac OS X Install CD/DVD or the "System Restore" CD/DVD that came with your computer. Reboot your computer with the CD/DVD in the drive, and hold down the 'c' key until the computer boots from the CD/DVD. When asked to select a language for installation, you may instead visit the "Utilities" menu at the top to select Disk Utility (among other...

I have been informed that Time Capsule does not make the External HD "bootable." Someone can correct me if I am wrong on that point. I use SuperDuper!. --J.D.

Total mess with my macbook

Which MacMini? According to my "Mac Tracker" the Late 2005 had a PowerPC . . . and your disk may not recognize that. Granted, "black" may be universal. This may or may not help you: I have had the SAME problem upgrading my MacBook to Leopard. Issue was its data came from my Widdle Ancient Pismo--a PowerPC. I was able to load a proper 10.4 for Intel . . . then...
