The second link I provided has step-by-step instructions on exactly how to do just that. So, the steps are as follows: 1) Install MacFUSE. 2) Install MacFusion. 3) From MacFusion's menubar, choose Quick Mount→FTP. 4) There is no step 4.

That's what I would do IF Disk Utility could see the drive, but it doesn't. I tried booting from my internal CD drive but now it won't work either. Both the CD and HD drives spin up but I can't see either. For some reason the HD is causing the CD drive not to work either.

That machine should run Tiger albeit dog slow. Have you tried reformatting the drive to Mac OS extended yet? ...

Yes, you should obtain a copy of OS 9 because I believe the iMac needs a firmware update to run Tiger. If you have 10.3 or 10.2 you could try installing it and see if it will update the firmware.

Boot Camp is not only free, but will be in your Utilities folder already. And, as EDCC suggested, if you are running Tiger, and not a newer version of OS X, then it's not so simple, but still doable with Boot Camp.
