Catalina using up a lot of memory

I thought Catalina was supposed to be leaner. It's using up a lot of my memory on my Mac mini. Anyone else experiencing this?.

I am pretty sure that memory is kinda wasted if it is not used. I want ALL the memory to be used at some point.
Do you mean memory? or do you mean that the system is taking up what you think is too much disk space?
(Hard drive space on my mini - identical to yours except for RAM (I have 16GB installed)
If I look at the read-only part of the boot drive - the System folder takes up 13.88 GB from a fresh update to Catalina -- less than the Mojave boot system. But, that doesn't really tell you much about how much space is used by the system. That depends to a great degree what else you have installed, and how you use your system.

No, I am not referring to disk space. That's fine. I was referring to memory - I seem to get low very quickly.

What does your Activity Monitor show? You can sort the list of processes in the memory tab, so the memory use shows the processes that use the most memory. Which processes appear near the top of that list?
What does the Memory Pressure graphic show? Still green? or yellow, or even red?
And, you might find that CPU usage is also relevant, and not memory use alone.

But, what affect does even low memory have for you? Do you notice slow response, significantly more now than before your upgraded to Catalina?

Dropbox seems to be using the most memory.

No, I haven't noticed any slowing down. I just noticed that memory seems low most of the time. If that's not a problem then so be it.
