    Classic

Mr. Me has it right. You need the original install discs for that PB. The "restore" discs will have Classic, and you can install from there.

any bigger DVD-R's out there besides 4.7 GB??

Bob has it right. Toast7 or Popcorn will automagically compress and burn. With awfully good video results. Before you even think about a DL disc (and use the +R persuasion for best compatibility) see if your drive can use it. Go to System Profiler and look under the ATA section. That'll tell...

    DVD tray blocked

The most common reason is that the front plate on the tray is still on. And it won't fit through the drive-bay opening. Take the drive out and remove the front plate.

    classic and os 9

John, I dunno about your install discs, but on my G4, Restore Disc 1 has an invisible folder. You can use the TinkerTool freebie to "view hidden" files. In Disk 1 is a .images folder, within which is OS9General. Drag it to your HD. Voila! Classic is installed.

in search for a new keyboard

I'm with Sinclair. After several Logitechs failed, I got Leslye a MicroSoft cordless keyboard and mouse. Works well, and we didn't bother installing the software. A mild hassle is needing an AA battery charger (or keeping a bunch of regular AAs on hand). Cheap at Radio Shack (Tandy if you're in...

how do i backup my CDs and my DVDs with my Superdrive?

Sure you can. Disk Utility, New Image, CD/DVD Master format. Once the image is created, burn it. Works with both CDs and DVDs (at least the DVDs that aren't copy protected). Toast 7 Titanium will also do it (copy tab). Since I have two superdrives in my Mac, copying just goes from one to...

    wmv in iDVD

Flip4Mac installed with QuickTime Pro (note the Pro) lets QT read unprotected WMVs. Then just save as a self-contained movie.

    Netscape 7.2 in OS X won't print

I see that problem a fair amount. Solution? Print to PDF. Then if you really need it on paper, print from Preview.

Recording sound files from the microphone?

Lots of free stuff floating about. Audacity (versiontracker.com) Final Vinyl (griffintechnology.com) They'll save as AIFF by default (one or two other options)

    Keychain help

Were it I, every data/pref file with the word keychain would be nuked. As near as I can tell, Keychain Repair doesn't. Just start afresh.

    DL dvd burning from iDVD5

Matt, does System Profiler show "support" for the external? If not, go to versiontracker.com and get PatchBurn.

    mp3 player from itunes songs?

Buy a CD-RW disc. Burn a disc from iTunes, which gets you unlocked AIFF files. Bring the disc into iTunes as MP3s. Drag them to your HD and copy them to your MP3 player. Erase the CD-RW. Repeat as needed.

how do I get my sony Mini DV Cam to

Which camera? If it has a firewire output port, it'll go directly into iMovie. Otherwise (say USB) you may have to buy something like iLife.

The first thing I'd try is double-clicking the mouse. That renews the fire in the relationship.

Usb pcmcia card wont work with my wallstreet w/os9

My experience: No, the card isn't Mac specific. All the USB drivers you need have been included in the OS since 9.1, and installing other drivers can mess you up. On my USB card, only the left port has ever worked. After three swapouts, I decided it was a feature. The card must be in the upper...

    Hardware error - DVD

Another brand/speed disc is a good suggestion, but you might also try a CD/DVD lens cleaning disc, too.

    DVD Playback

Wrong answer, Andi. (Sound of obnoxious buzzer) Matshita drives can't be altered. Buy a Pioneer. Apple has a manual on how to replace the optical drive yourself: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacg5_20inch_OpticalDrive.pdf

    DVD Playback

Andi, until that drive is "flashed" to make it region-independent, it will be stuck in whatever region it is now set at. Check System Profiler and tell us exactly what you have (ATA Bus). You might be able to update its firmware to RPC1 (region free) status. Then you can go on with your life.

    burn problems

Amanda, that combo drive is getting long of tooth. You might try a CD/DVD lens cleaning disc, but I suspect the drive is just old and weak like me. I suggest spending not too many bucks ($50?) at OWC (macsales.com) for a new superdrive, say a Pioneer 110D. The web site has a video tutorial on...
