    ya'll gotta relax

I think that since Mac OS X is a Unix system, and Windows is a Windows system, it is pretty obvious that apps from one system won't run natively on the other one (unless you have Wine, which allows you to run some Windows apps on OS X, but there's still no way to run OS X apps on Windows though).

    lepered

We already had Cheetah. I think they chose wild cat names because many of those animals are very elegant. Like the tiger. Or panther. I like the choice of names. It's much better and simpler than "Longhorn" (-> Windows after XP). Trivia: Longhorn is the name of a ski mountain that's close...

Please don't call it a Macintosh

I'd say, with the switch to Intel, Apple has passed the Point Of No Return. From my point of view, even if it doesn't seem likely that much to all of you who are supporting the Intel-switch, this marked the beginning of the slow and painful death for Apple Computer Inc. The PowerPC for the...

Please don't call it a Macintosh

Yepp. Nicely said! Couldn't agree more.

    Also... powerPC is NOT dead

Over time, they will. This is why they made the switch.

Please don't call it a Macintosh

Well, OS X comes on a DVD. This is a shiny round object with a hole in its centre. Yeah. The data for the OS is on this object. Of course, the system is the experience for the user. OS X makes it all round and smooth. But the Mac experience is also made of the computer itself, its style...

    Also... powerPC is NOT dead

I don't think there will be a G6 soon. Also, there are I don't know how much millions of dollars on the table between Intel and Apple, that a switch overnight back to PowerPC seems very much unlikely. A switch back to PowerPC itself seems unlikely at all. However, of course, support for...

    PC & MAC become one

Exactly. Windows is some sort of try for an OS. But it isn't.

Please don't call it a Macintosh

Uhm, *cough* the Macintosh is the whole computer and its design. Mac OS X is to my knowledge only the operating system. Of course, this is where it comes down for the end-user, but it's still the OS.

    Performance of Intel-Macs

We don't know yet. But there's a high chance.

Why couldn't Apple go With AMD?

    What about Mainboards?

Please don't call it a Macintosh

An Intel CPU will never be as robust or as strong as the G5 is. Fact. Apple was ahead with technology with the G-series processor. Think different.

Please don't call it a Macintosh

Couldn't agree more. With an Intel inside, I don't think you can call it a Mac or Macintosh anymore. I don't know about board members of Apple, but I think some important people at Apple come by here from time to time.

    PC & MAC become one

That's the end guys, that's not heaven. People will buy an high-end Intel-based Mac, then install Windows on it - because they like Windows better and want to use it on some kick-ass hardware. What about OS X? Of course, dual boot is possible, but then OS X will always be the second system...

    VirtualPC and Tiger

VirtualPC 7 is not fully functional as of yet in Tiger. I'd say you should wait until Microsoft brings out a patch for VirtualPC to make it work in Tiger.
