Double Login, Twice the fun of the fair

It might be that there are two different functions assigned to each menu selection. One says Shut down while the other says Shut down... (notice the three dots). Three dots usually mean a dialog comes up, while with the selection where there are no dots it just executes the function with no...

    Virus Software for Tiger

What I said is a well-known fact, which you can check for yourself. Unix is an operating system written by hackers. The Internet (-> local network at first) has been written by hackers while working on Unix. Hackers don't do damage. It's one of the hacker rules and ethics.

    PowerPC is dead. PowerMacs? PowerBooks?

I think some names will stay the same. At least eMac and iMac. PowerMac? Well Maybe, but it's not referring to the PowerPC inside then, more like what you can do with it. But I don't think we'll see another PowerBook... iBook stays with us I think. They won't call it G6. IBM gave the name to...

    Virus Software for Tiger

Unix has been written by hackers. The Internet has been written by hackers. Why would hackers hack a hacker-OS? The security model of Unix is extremely tight. In Mac OS X (-> Unix based, Darwin kernel), administrative actions cannot go unnoticed. From the technical point of view it is...

Why couldn't Apple go With AMD?

But Apple moving to AMD would have meant more potential buyers. I for my part will not buy an Intel-based machine or Intel-based Mac.

    Virus Software for Tiger

This question has been answered about a billion times in about a billion forums there about Mac OS X. There are no viruses for Mac OS X and chances are extremely low that a virus for this system will ever come out as it is Unix based. No need for Virex at all.

    PC & MAC become one

No. Dual Boot won't be possible. It also is not possible to buy a standard PC and buy OS X and install it. You still have to buy an Apple branded machine. On this machine you cannot install Windows for Dual Boot.

    Mac to use Intel Chips!

The G4/G5 is dead officially since yesterday. You can of course go and buy a PPC-based Mac now, but in time, support for this will vanish. However, this interesting "Universal Binary" thing they're talking about may make it worth to still buy a Mac before the Intel ones come out.

Why couldn't Apple go With AMD?

Shipping numbers of a product doesn't affect the way it is. AMD still is better and cheaper than Intel. We all know that. AMD will also supply similar processors comparable to Centrino over time. At least I suspect that very much.

    Mac to use Intel Chips!

What will happen? Will sales go up for Apple when they're releasing the Intel-based Macs? Or will Apple vanish over time because of the switch? I personally always found AMD better than Intel and that's not about to change, even if Apple manufactures Macs with Intel processors in it.

Why did you buy your Mac ?

Just out of curiousity... I voted now. For me it was mostly the OS and the applications, its robustness and because it's virus free. But now: The last one is "...because you're in love with Steve Jobs". There are 2 votes showing up for this one. Can those people please stand up and explain this...

    No Next-Gen PowerBooks Until 2007?

The most interesting question is: What will the next Laptop of Apple be? Will it even be named "PowerBook" even though no PowerPC architecture is in the clockwork? I don't think so. Maybe "IntelBook" - what a stupid name. Really. I don't know what they will call it. But I was hoping to see a PB...

    OS X Leopard

It has been assumed here that "Leopard" won't come out for X86. I think it will come out for X86 as Apple begins to migrate with Intel. Wouldn't make much sense to make that OS for PPC only when they're no longer building PPC Macs, now would it?

It really is a crime that Apple has let this go on for such a long time.

Alright, what about "Mac OS User for life" ? :D
