Have you tried downloading and installing fink in order to build a more recent rsync? http://www.finkproject.org/download/index.php?phpLang=en

    Question A simple backup question

You need to read up on rsync and cron. cron will execute anything you want (maybe a rsync task... hint hint) at specified times of the day, days of the week, months, years, etc. rsync will synchronize (or, "mirror") files from somewhere to somewhere else. This could either take place on...

    Pm G3. Vnc?

Can you ssh into it? What I'd try is this (if it were me). I'd download Vine Server (free VNC Server) and make a StartupItem which will start it on boot... test it all out using that iMac you have. Boot the G3 into Target Disk Mode (from the iMac), put the VNC Server and StartupItem in place...

    Firewall & ipfw

First time posting. I have a PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.5 (Leopard). I am trying to develop an application using SSL (JSSE to be exact). I want to open port 443. Of course, the latest OS X (10.5) has some obscure Firewall GUI which won't allow you to specify a particular port to open. So...
