    2 External Firewire HD

I have also run into this problem before, but it was on a G4 Mini. If I daisy chained my 4 firewire HD's together I could see all 4, until I rebooted. Upon reboot, I could only see the first HD in the chain. I tried the daisy chain on my MDD and could see all 4 after reboot. Never...

    My new Mac Mini

I went to (God help me) CompUSA yesterday to buy some little stuff and I took a stroll through the Apple section. I looked at 4 computers (PM, iBook, PB and iMac) and all of them had about 50% of the system prefs greyed out. I guess they do this to keep people from screwing up the system.

The Mini has a built in speaker. It is really small and produces pretty lame sound.

G3 B&W Upgrade Path or Mini Mac?

The 40gb HD should fit in with no problem. Just shut down the computer and disconnect the 6gb and replace with the 40gb. Of course this does NOT move over the data from the 6gb drive. For that you can hook them up in master/slave (much easier if you have a rev. 2 logic board).

    BBedit question

According to your post it sounds like you have already done this: "I have an emaillist of over 14000 addresses and put the in in BBedit. The I add an suffix of "," after each mail to make it a CVS file." You would have done this by pushing the apple-f keys in BBEdit. This brings up the find...

Web Dev tools on a new iBook

BBEdit... merely text editors... they are for hand-writing your code. Oh the injustice. BBEdit is much more than a text editor. It has command line support, full GREP functionality, it is one of the most powerful text editors out there and it can manage sites using bbincludes. Its way more...

Web Dev tools on a new iBook

Notepad is better than Frontpage. Seriously! I prefer BBEdit. I'm a web master (God, I hate that title) and I only use BBEdit since I prefer to write my own code and I mostly live in PHP and Perl. If you must have WYSIWYG then I guess Dreamweaver is OK. I have not used Freeway so I can't...

Web Dev tools on a new iBook

Yup! vi, ssh and ftp are all available via the command line (us Unix Geeks have been doing this for years). If you require a GUI then there is textedit. I believe that you can ftp via the finder, but I've never done it. If you need more then go to versiontracker.com You can find tons of...

    Mac Mini - Potential Downside

I have a mini. I've been using it all weekend. As a general surfing, word processing machine the mini is just fine. I've also spent about 5 hours in bbedit and working with apache/php all with no issues at all. I also tried some photoshop stuff and this is where the mini bogged down while...
