    Receiving a error code -108 ?

What about hard drive space? If you're low on space, then you will get an error, as toast uses the hard drive as a scratch disk before burning.

Pioneer A07 (aka 107D) DVD burner and 10.3.3

You have to remove the face plate off the front of the drive in order for it to clear the opening in you mac. It comes off fairly easy, being held on by 4 plastic tabs.

About to buy a Graphics card, need a little assurance

Yes the new nVidia chipset has been announced, and yes they said it supports the OpenGL standard. However it will still be up to Apple to decide if they are going to use these chips in there cards, as no 3rd party manufacturers make nVidia based cards for the mac. :( I highly doubt that Apple...

About to buy a Graphics card, need a little assurance

Ok, I just got done putting my ATI 9800 pro in my MDD mac this afternoon. :) First, the card comes the the extra power cable that you will need to hook it up. It plugs into the power cable that feeds your ata/66 drives (the ones under the cd-drives). The card fits in very securely, infact...

How To Change The Boot Up Screen Background

Well since his picture is pointing to the blue background with the word "THIS" on it, I'm assuming he mean the boot up background you get when the OS X dialog box is shown. Of course I could be wrong. :)

    FCP on a G4 iBook - performance?

Well I would say the did it for separation of the product lines between the iBook and the Powerbook. If you look at two equally (or as equal as you can) optioned iBooks and Powerbooks, there is only $500.00 separating the price. (The superdrive adds another $200 to the powerbook when added.)...

    Good script language to learn?

Perl is pretty slick, not only can you write scripts for system level things, you can also use it for web scripting.. My vote is for Perl! :) http://www.perl.com/ http://www.perldoc.com/ http://www.perlmonks.com/ http://perl.oreilly.com/

Getting the most out of a Power Mac G4 450?

I was looking at the Radeons the other day, and it seems that they no longer sell the 8500 or the 9000, leaving just the 7000 (PCI) or the 9800 (AGP). Granted the 9800 is an awesome card (I've been drooling over one for a while, but can't justify it yet as my GeForce4 Ti is still doing the...

    FCP on a G4 iBook - performance?

Well I'm no expert on FCP, but here is a link for some test ran on various macs. http://www.barefeats.com/fcp4.html Granted they don't have an iBook G4 on there, but I would say the performance would be a little less than the PB G4, since it has a smaller L2 cache. The laptop would...

    Want to start coding

Another great source for java is the core series, in my opinion it is a little better than Deitel's java. I'm not knocking Deitel's books, the first one I used was their C++ book, and found it to be great. But after taking 3 semesters of C++ then starting in on Java, I found the Deitel Java...

    Want to start coding

If you really want to start with a solid foundation, I would suggest starting with C or C++. There are other great languages out there, they all have there pluses and minuses, but in my opinion C is a great place to start. C is the basis upon which cocoa (objective-c) was founded, and it is...

What Mouse to use with Maya

I have the mx700, which is just the wireless version of the mx500, it is a great mouse. Yes you can setup the scroll wheel as a middle click. The drivers that logitech supply are ok, but for the ultimate in tuning your mouse for individual applications, try usboverdrive. It will allow you to...

Well when your done ranting and raving, and maybe cooled off a little bit, here is another place you can look at for your login problems. First open up: System Preferences (it is accessible via the apple menu, or maybe on the dock, or in the Applications folder) Look for the Accounts Icon...

    Come on Tiger!!!

Yes, I like the way you could change the colors via OS 9, and would like to see something like that in OS X, default style. Not to take anything away from the people developing themes, as there are some pretty nice ones out there. And in my opinion, yes it is a fake. :)

    Plastic front for Powermac

Well I know that at least with the B&W's that part of the reason was due to where the processor was. On these machines the processor was up front right underneath the top bay when the door is shut. I can't remember where, but there was an article where a guy modified his lower bay to...
