Sorry to bother you with this, but as a very, very long time user of "tray-based" CDROM drive PCs, I never thought of checking what could happen with an iBook and a small form factor CD (mini-CD, as they also call them) ... that is untl today, when I pushhed one of those into my new iBook drive...

Is there any possibility to remove "cached" mail addresses (the ones saved, once an adddress has been used once), that are used for mail address completion, for example? I am concerned about some privacy issues, and I have been able to grep for all addresses I have used - so far - on my new Mac...

Actually I had/have . /sw/bin/init.sh in the .profile, but it did not do any good. On the other hand, you were right about the $PATH (how come I didn't check it ;(!!!), so a 'export PATH=$PATH:/sw/bin' in the xterm fixed the problem. I will have to look into the init.sh, to see what is supposed...

You are right, but this is not what I am talking about. Launching ethereal is not necessarily related to being able to read off of an interface - I am just talking about the GUI here. In any case, I do "su -" in both cases - and if starting X with startx ethereal is found by both "regular" user...

Certainly looks like - took your advice, and found X11 under applications>utilities (this is going to take me some getting used to ;)). Two apps seems to be installed: xman, and xlogo. But why is - then - finkcommander giving me the following message (which is why I chose one of the options...

Now I realized I may not have been clear enough: I meant "based on the error message I get when trying to install the XTools out of the downloaded files" ... "as well as when trying to install any other dmg file, for that matter" Sorry for any confusion ...
