    Root in Login Window?

I really like the login window that shows all of the users' names and lets you click on one and log in. But Root doesn't show up in that mode. I tried to get it to show up by messing around in NetInfo, but it didn't work. Is there a way I can do this? Thanks!

    Clone Sys Pref Shortcuts!

You know that little bar at the top of the System Preferences window? You know how you can only have one icon for a pane (for example, you can only have one link to the Network pane)? Well, now you can have more. I found out yesterday that you can drag the little 'poofs' that you see when you...

    OS X 10.1!

Head on over to http://www.macrumors.com for links to Mac OS X 10.1 screen shots! SlyGuy posted and said that they had actually used it and that it was going to out in August, but I still think that it'll be at MWNY. He said a friend of his had it installed on a older PowerBook because his large...

    The Finder hates Windows

Close all the Finder windows, then control click on the Finder icon in the Dock. It says, "No Windows":D. If you have the Dock at the bottom of the screen, it even looks like a balloon dialog - like they have in comics! Any other anti-Windows things you've found in OS X?

I'd bet 10.1 will be out at MWNY

I'm almost sure that 10.1 will be out in less than a week. I can't see Steve up there sayin', "Mac OS X 10.1 isn't done yet...but we have 10.0.5, and that's half as good." This is just a guess, but I'm pretty sure of it. Sure hope so ;).

Beige G3 not compatible with drives over 72GB?

Because OS X does not allow a beige G3 to have a partition bigger than 8GB, and you can only have 9 partitions, does that mean that beige G3's are incompatible with HD's bigger than 72GB while running OS X? I don't even have a BG3, I'm just wondering...

    OS X 10.0.4

I heard on Mac OS X Centric (http://www.macosxcentric.com/) that OS X 10.0.4 has been leaked. Does anybody have it and want to say what's improved?

Boot into OS 9 and X at startup on the same partition!

:DHa! That's it! I'm king of the world(well, maybe not...;))!!! I was reading rharder's comment in another thread and it gave me a awsome idea: Could you make a small (I mean 50MB) that had an Alias to a OS 9 system folder on another partition? Then when holding option at startup, it would allow...

    Secreat Options!

By installing the Developer tools, you get a program called "AppearanceSample" (it's in Developer/Examples/Carbon/AppearanceSample/) Open it and then go into the "Misc" menu. Select "GetTheme" and it lists a bunch of things, like "Aqua" and "Blue" or "Graphite"! It also says "Sounds Enabled...

    Mac OS X 10.0.3

Oh, Yeah! I just checked Software Update for fun, and it told me to update to 10.0.3!!! It's just a little download, too!!! Keep it up Apple!!! (I'd like to see Micro$oft to put out updates like this!)

    PB apps on 10.0.x

Does anybody know how to make applications that shipped with the PB (Music Player) work on OS X (i'm using 10.0.1, but they should also work on 10.0.0)? It's only my opinion that the Music Player is better, and I don't want to start an argument, I just want to use it to listen to the Beatles on...

    Mac OS X Update 10.0.1

Does anybody know how to make Apple's OS X update (http://www.apple.com/macosx I think) install over the 4L7 installer that was leaked? Is there even a differnce between the two? Thanks in advance.

    Rename the Trash!

Another (stupid) hack. I think the name "Trash" is, well, incorrect for a icon that looks like a wastebasket (but you can name it whatever you wish). It's pretty easy, too. Just follow these steps. 1. Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/ (in the GUI) and control-click on the file named...

    Change System Panes!

I have created a new hack (i think)! When you open up the System Prefrences, there are a bunch of differnt files that make up each pane. For the sake of a good example, I am going to use the Dock Prefrences pane. But, these steps should work for every pane, although I haven't tried. 1)...
